Laércio joined SHM as an associate in 2014 after a successful career as an international executive at Unilever, during which he worked as a Vice President Marketing and board member in China, Indonesia, India and Brazil, as well as Marketing Director for Unilever Pakistan and General Manager for Unilever Igaraçu (NE Brazil). Highlights of his career include the turnaround of the Unilever China detergent business, which he boosted from fourth place to market leader in three years; the strategic repositioning of the home-care operation in Indonesia, where he recovered and consolidated both market leadership and profitability; and the design, implementation and operation of the low-income division of Unilever Brazil, with the launch of the detergent Ala.
Laércio has proven and widely recognised expertise in understanding low-income consumers, and conceiving business systems with a significant social impact on this section of the population. He is also committed to team forming, and has a special interest in individual talent coaching. He was trained by Asian Works as an in-house coach for Unilever; and he holds a diploma in Clinical Organisational Psychology and a master’s degree in Coaching and Consulting for Change, both from Insead, Fontainebleau, as well as a degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the Fundacao Getulio Vargas, Sao Paolo, Brazil. As a consequence of his experience, Laércio has also extended his activities to the academic world, having been invited to lecture as part of prestigious leadership training programmes, such AMP-Insead, and MBA-ESMT, Berlin, among others worldwide.
Based in Sao Paolo, Laércio is a native Portuguese speaker and also speaks fluent English.
